About

Hi, I'm John

I run Bespoke Personas. It's just me — not a team, not a company with a mission statement. Just a person who got really into AI character creation and turned out to be pretty good at it.

It started on an app called The Showrunner AI. I was messing around building characters — some based on famous people, real and fictional — and noticed they were coming out with actual depth. Not just surface-level impressions, but personas that genuinely felt like someone. I use a system prompt designer I've built on various AI platforms, feed that into character builders, then fine-tune from there until it feels right.

I've always been drawn to stories and how people tick. I'm an avid people-watcher and I read and watch a lot. The books that shaped how I think about character include Catch-22, 1984, the Dune series, and Palahniuk's Survivor and Fight Club. Film-wise, I love Christopher Nolan, anything Charlie Kaufman has written, and Bill Forsyth — especially Local Hero. On TV, everything from ER and Lost to The Sopranos, Star Trek in all its forms, Stargate SG-1, and more sitcoms and sketch shows than I could list.

All of that feeds into what I do. When I build a persona, I'm drawing on years of absorbing how characters talk, think, and react — what makes someone feel real rather than just a collection of traits.

I'm not doing this to build a startup or scale to fifty employees. I spotted a gap — most people haven't figured out that making an AI genuinely sound like a specific person is a real skill — and I got here early, with my own playbook. I take this work seriously as a craft, and I think it matters. Call it a quiet attempt to change how people think about AI from the inside out.

And I'm not standing still. Personas are where I started, but I'm now beginning to build full custom AI agents too — the same care for character, applied to AI that can actually go off and do things for you. More on that soon.
